France beat Portugal 2-1 with a golden goal penalty scored by Zinedine Zidane in the 117th minute of their Euro 2000 semifinal. Zidane scored after Abel Xavier handled a shot by Sylvain Wiltord. Nuno Gomes had given Portugal the lead in the 19th minute. France equalised in the 51st minute through Thierry Henry. Portugal had gone 392 minutes without conceding a goal, a European Championship finals record. France now play either the Netherlands or Italy in Sunday's final in Rotterdam.
